4 : Massachusetts' prophetic Significance

Despite this somber scenario, there are reasons not to despair, and perhaps even to celebrate. Prophetic voices all over this nation have been repeatedly prophesying national revival of unprecedented magnitude beginning in Massachusetts. Given the spiritual significance of this region, this makes perfect spiritual sense. It would also explain why Satan would seek to embolden the forces of secularism and paganism, and to demoralize the Church. As always, Satan is seeking to kill the child before he can carry out his prophetic destiny. Is it exaggerated to see prophetic significance in the fact that on September 11, 2001 Boston served as the point of departure for the deadly forces that spread so much destruction and havoc in this nation and all over the world? What took place at the material level is now being carried out at the moral and spiritual level, as the virus of homosexuality and gay marriage begins to spread dramatically all over this nation and perhaps the world.

Evidently, very powerful prophetic forces are at work in this region. The Church in Massachusetts must discern this dynamic and act accordingly. We must join the Spirit in His intended work and strengthen ourselves for bold action in faith. God has always allowed things to become hopeless before intervening so that the glory will be His and not man’s. This is such a time. Rather than become discouraged and isolated we must seize the initiative from the enemy. We must stop obsessing at his actions and realize that it is we who have the authority. God has given the nations to His people, and Satan will have the victory only if we relinquish it prematurely and unnecessarily.

Ironically, what we are presently seeing may mark the beginning of revival in Massachusetts and in this nation. I believe we have inadvertently entered into a powerful, prophetic season in which whatever the Church undertakes to strengthen God’s kingdom on earth will be blessed and crowned with dramatic, glorious success. The words of Joshua 1: 3-9 are for the Church in Massachusetts and New England at this time. They act as a spiritual paradigm for the actions and strategy of the Church in the next few years: God has given us the land (vs. 3). The reach of our actions will be extensive (vs.4). No human or spiritual power will be able to resist our actions (vs.5a). Our spiritual authority will not be inferior to that which we observe in many biblical texts (vs.5b). God’s anointing will require our human initiative and efforts (vs.6). God’s Word and its spiritual paradigms must guide all our actions and decisions (vs.7). We must be insistent on adhering to the principles and methodology of Scripture if we are to be successful (vs.8). We must never entertain fear or timidity in our hearts, but rather remain focused on God’s promised favor and Presence and always undertake bold, proactive action (vs.9a). If we remain faithful, God will give us victory time after time (vs. 9b).

The actions suggested in this proposal are predicated on this prophetic understanding. If we dare to believe the Spirit and launch into this spiritual adventure we will be blessed beyond our wildest expectations. God is not yet through with this nation or with the world. Before Jesus’ Second Coming there must take place a mighty revival on a world scale. It will be perhaps God’s final declaration that the earth is His for the taking, and that the Church that Jesus established is as glorious and effective as He declared it to be. It is our task to initiate this process and to begin to take bold steps toward its fulfillment.
